History of LUGI Badminton 2010–2020
A decade reconstructed from old league tables, tournament player lists and 103 national ranking lists that are no longer linked from anywhere. Two Division 1 titles, one Elitserien qualifier lost only on the head-to-head result, and a club that grew from two to five senior teams.
2013/14 and 2019/20
The road toward Elitserien
LUGI 1 stayed in Division 1 for the entire decade and finished in the top four in eight of ten seasons. Two seasons ended at the top of the table.
LUGI 1: final position in Division 1 (1 = top). Teams that finished above LUGI are named on their position line.
Division 1 Södra in 2010/11, Division 1 Syd afterwards. 6–8 teams per group. 2019/20 was stopped by COVID-19 in March 2020 while LUGI led the table.
2013/14: Champions, then the qualifier
LUGI 1 won Division 1 Syd with 21 points (10 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss), and match score 73-23. That sent the team to the Elitserien qualifier on 17 May 2014 against Spårvägens BMF, Spånga BMK and Örebro BMK. LUGI lost the opener to Spårvägen 3–4, then beat Örebro 7–0 and Spånga 6–1. LUGI and Spårvägen both finished on 7 points, and LUGI even had the better match score (16–5 against 13–8). Spårvägen finished first, apparently on their 4–3 head-to-head win. The club website later wrote that LUGI "chose not to move up".2019/20: Top of the table when the music stopped
LUGI 1 had 7 wins and 1 loss from 8 matches (55–9 in individual matches) and led Division 1 Syd, one point ahead of Malmö BK, when the season was stopped in March 2020. The last four rounds were never played; the official table lists them as 0–0 draws, giving 12 played and 18 points. The squad mixed homegrown players (Nils Ihse, Leo Rasmusson, Max Lundin Gotfredsen) with newcomers like Shaun Ekengren, Ann-Sofie Husher Ruus and Oliver Lau Andersen.Every team, every season
Final position in the group for each LUGI senior team. Stronger blue means a higher division (see legend). A gold outline marks group winners.

"Players used" = players with at least one series match. The 2010/11 figure is low because few individual results were recorded that season.
Division 1 in 2014/15 had two LUGI teams: LUGI 2 had won Division 2 Syd B the season before. In 2013/14 four of the five LUGI teams won their groups.

Missing from these lists are players whose youth years were before July 2012. For example, Rann Li (born 1997) played SM U15 in 2011, but his U15 seasons predate the online ranking archive. His first listed rank is already U17 (#33 in men's singles, October 2012).

Grew up here, or came from elsewhere?
For each player I took the first season they appear for LUGI in any source (series, tournament or ranking) and their age at that point. This is a proxy: it shows when someone first shows up in the records, not which club they came from.
Gaps to check
- Rankings 2010–2012 Badminton Sweden's online ranking archive starts in July 2012. The Excel ranking sheets from 2010–2012 are not online anywhere I could find. If you have them, they can be added.
- Ranking resolution After October 2012 I sampled one ranking list per month (103 lists in total, weekly from July to October 2012). A player's true best could have happened in a week between samples.
- 2010/11 player stats Team tables for 2010/11 are complete, but only a few individual matches were entered in tournamentsoftware that season. Player totals for 2010/11 are therefore too low.
- 2011/12 lower teams The 2011/12 national league covered only Divisions 1–3. If LUGI had a 4th team in a Skåne district series that year, it isn't recorded here.
- Qualifier wording The official table places LUGI 2nd in the 2013/14 qualifier (equal points, better match score, lost the head-to-head), yet the club website says LUGI "qualified but chose not to move up". Worth checking with people who were there.
- Name matching Spelling variants were merged (e.g. "Pirzamanbin" → "Pirzamanbin", "Max Gotfredsen" → "Max Lundin Gotfredsen"). Paul Ohlsson / Olsson / Elliot is one player (shown as "Paul Elliot (Ohlsson)"). Sara Ericsson and Sara Storm are one player: tournaments list her as Ericsson and the ranking lists as Storm, with the same licence number (IID01514162). Jan and Johan Hultqvist are father and son and are kept separate.
- SM medals Medals are matched by name against each championship's LUGI entry list, so a medal won while the player represented another club is not counted. Veteran events with a separate 4th place (round-robin groups) are counted as no medal. Youth SM for 2020 was cancelled because of COVID-19, and Veteran SM 2020 does not appear in the archive either.
- Where newcomers came from Previous clubs aren't in these sources. The "joined as adult" group could be split by previous club with a second pass over other clubs' ranking lists.
- Veteran rankings Veteran (V35+) ranking lists were left out to keep the focus on senior and junior play.
